Have your say on the future of Ultra Low Emission Vehicles in Sandwell

  • People living in Sandwell and the Black Country area can have their say on the future of Ultra Low Emission Vehicles (ULEV).

A consultation launched by Black Country Transport urges anyone living or working in Sandwell and the wider region to share their views on its ULEV Strategy, Vision and Implementation plan.

The plan sets out a series of recommendations for Black Country Councils should consider in order to prepare for the anticipated 2035 government ban on the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles.

The existing petrol and diesel vehicle ban is set for 2040, but the government has indicated the intention to bring this date forward to 2035 or earlier and extend the ban to hybrids.

Black Country Transport is a strategic transport partnership between the four Black Country authorities (City of Wolverhampton Council, Dudley MBC, Sandwell Council and Walsall MBC),

Councillor Jackie Taylor, cabinet member for sustainable transport said: “Our aim is to lead Sandwell and the wider region on the road to net carbon zero by amplifying and accelerating the uptake of electric vehicles.

“We want to hear what is important to people living and working in Sandwell and the Black Country, and understand more about how they currently use, or would like to use, electric vehicles, to help us develop suitable infrastructure across the region.”

The consultation is now open and will run until Friday 2 October.  Visit our website to view the full strategy and vision document and complete the online survey

Due to the ongoing coronavirus emergency, this consultation will be hosted online, please email the transport planning team for printable versions of the consultation survey and telephone guides.
